Who do you want to protect you, secure you, bring you justice? A new president? Your savings account? Your insurance agent? Your medical doctor? People around us go to many such providers to fight for their security and justice. And though we are the people of God, we are drawn to the world’s protectors. Yet, reliance on such sources of security brings a warning from God. This morning we hear the warning so that we might choose the one King who truly fights for His people. 1 Samuel 8:1—22
