On this Palm Sunday, we look back to the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was hailed by many as their king. Ha! His only crown was a crown of thorns. While we are assured that Jesus will one day reign, the path to his throne seems terribly crooked. Such a delay in the coronation of Jesus may prompt us to fight to establish His reign. But fighting is not the answer. Our text today deepens our conviction that God certainly is bringing His king to the throne His way and in His time. 2 Samuel 2:1—5:5
