Our Pastors

  • Bob Abegg (Pastor) : Bob has served the Centerpoint body since 1981 as pastor. Bob has had a deep desire to understand and communicate the truth of the Bible since he trusted Christ in his college years.  It ultimately brought him to Dallas Seminary in 1976 to study and learn the Scriptures, earning a Th.M.in 1981.
In recent years he has helped pioneer the development of online education at Dallas Seminary.  His work in developing and facilitating the online courses has culminated in an additional role as the Director of Online and External Studies at DTS.
Bob is a lover of golf, old rock and roll, and technology gadgets.  He and his wife Susie have been married for 35 years, and they have three grown children.
  • Mark Yarbrough (Pastor) : Over Mark’s 19 years of ministry experience, serving God has occurred in a variety of venues. While attending Bible College and seminary, Mark participated in a Christian singing group who used the summers to tour the country. “It was a wonderful time and provided a backdrop for a variety of experiences…and an affirmation to what the Lord wanted me to do with my life.”
In 1989 Mark began serving as the pastor of Piedmont Church, when in 1998 a church merger brought him and his family to Centerpoint Church (formerly Eastfield Bible Chapel) where he serves as a pastor. His responsibilities range from preaching/teaching to administration to leading music. In addition to his roles at Centerpoint, Mark serves as Vice President for
Communications , Associate Academic Dean for External Studies, and Assistant Professor of Bible Exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 17 years and they have four children–Kayla (12), Jacob (10), Kayci (9), and Joseph (7).
His passion for service begins with the service of Christ’s redeeming work. “The Lord redeemed me through the power of Jesus Christ. Early in my life I experienced how a variety of ministries, led by the local church, provided a sense of community that drew people together and produced an environment for growth. I was marked by wonderful teachers, including my Father and Mother, who taught me the importance of knowing God through His Word. I was later impressed by godly men whose passion was matched by sound training–which made for a powerful tool in the Lord’s hand. I desire to impact others as they have impacted me.”
  • Steve Bergstrom (Pastor – Youth) : Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Steve grew up in a Christian home and received the Lord as Savior while at camp as a pre-teen. He was active in his church and at age 18 stepped into the role of youth director, a ministry he continued throughout his college years at Philadelphia College of Bible. Steve graduated in 1978 with a degree in Christian Education and subsequently took the position of associate pastor at his home church. After marrying his college sweetheart, Leslie, Steve moved his small family to Texas in 1983 so he could attend Dallas Theological Seminary. Steve got half way through his masters degree when he changed course so he could focus on his growing family and begin his own landscaping business, during which time he remained active in youth ministry at Eastfield Bible Chapel (now Centerpoint Church).
Several years ago, Steve accepted a part-time staff position at Centerpoint Church and continues to enjoy working with the junior and senior high youth. In his free time he enjoys playing ping pong, golf, reading, and spending time with his wife and three daughters, two sons-in-law, and a sweet little granddaughter. Steve and Leslie live in Mesquite.
  • Marty McKee (Pastor – Communication/Education) : Marty was called into full-time ministry upon completion of his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Harding University. He then went on to complete his Master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in the area of Christian Education. He has served in many different ministries throughout the years. His ministries have consisted of:  singing in three different music groups, in which he had the opportunity to write and record several songs; serving as an administrator in Christian Higher Education; adjunct Bible professor; pastoral roles at three churches in Texas; and now serves as a pastor at Centerpoint Church where he is involved in various capacities of ministry such as, worship, Christian Education and preaching/teaching.
Marty currently resides in Forney, TX with his wife Heidi and children, Isaac, Rhea, and Abby. He and Heidi have been married for 7 wonderful years. Marty is an outdoorsman who loves to spend time in God’s beautiful creation, whether it be on a lake fishing or in the mountains of Colorado. He is also an avid sportsman loving baseball, basketball, and football (well, if it involves a ball he loves it). His greatest joy and desire now is to share and live God’s word with such a zeal and passion that others will want to know more of the God he serves and the Savior he follows!
