Sermon: LOVE THE UNLOVELY

“Heartbeat for the Kingdom: Love the Unlovely”
We know that we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. Not only is this a practical (and harmonious!) exercise, but it is a biblical mandate. Loving our neighbors, as a summation of the law, is a frequent teaching in the life of the early church. But what if our neighbor is our enemy? What does that do to the equation? Join us on February 22nd as we unpack a confrontational teaching in Matthew 5:38-48.

Sermon: Demonstrating our Dependability

“Heartbeat for the Kingdom: Demonstrating our Dependability”

Are we as good as our word? Can our God, our family, and our friends truly count on us? Do we reflect God’s dependability in our lives as citizens of His Kingdom? Jesus shows us how to demonstrate true dependability as we exercise our heartbeat for the Kingdom.
Matthew 5:33-37

Sermon: Eliminating Adultery

“Heartbeat for the Kingdom: Eliminating Adultery”

According to Jesus, we all adulterate marriage in multiple creative ways. And such pervasive adulterous action amounts to rebellion against the image of God. In response, we who have a heartbeat for the kingdom must take radical action to eradicate adultery from our lives.
Matthew 5:27-32

Sermon: How to Avoid Judgment for Anger

“Heartbeat for the Kingdom: How to Avoid Judgment for Anger”

We frequently think that the avoidance of judgement due to anger occurs when we cease to act upon our anger. In other words, we think we’re “OK” as long as we don’t “do” something to others when we’re mad or upset. While this external practice is desirable, what internal issues are at stake? What is the heartbeat of the King and what does He desire us to seek?
Matthew 5:21-26
